LEVC appoints Aberdeenshire firm as electric van dealership

LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company) continues to expand its UK dealer network with the appointment of a new sales and service partner, Gillanders Motors of Aberdeenshire

Gillanders operates a successful light commercial vehicle business and is an established key player in the taxi market, making the business an ideal partner for the LEVC brand.

Newly appointed as LEVC’s northernmost dealer, the site will bring the number of domestic LEVC sales locations to 17, along with more than 30 additional service centres across the UK.

Gillanders will provide full sales and after sales support for LEVC’s TX electric taxi and new VN5 electric van, which began production at the company’s state-of-the-art EV manufacturing facility in Ansty, Coventry at the end of last year.

Joerg Hofmann, CEO of LEVC, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Gillanders to our UK network to represent LEVC in Aberdeenshire. With their wealth of commercial vehicle experience, GIllanders will play a vital role in helping us grow our brand presence and customer base in Scotland. Their appointment is also part of our network growth strategy to ensure that LEVC customers are never further than 45 minutes from a sales and service point.”

Taxi drivers in Scotland can benefit from the ‘Switched on Taxis’ scheme offered by Energy Saving Trust. Loans of up to £120,000 are funded by Transport Scotland and aim to enable owners and operators of hackney cabs or private hire taxis to replace their current vehicle with an eligible ultra-low emission vehicle, like LEVC’s TX.    LEVC’s new VN5 electric van is also eligible for an ‘interest free electric vehicle loan’ of up to £28,000 as part of the Energy Saving Trust Scheme.

Mark D. Stevenson, Sales Manager at Gillanders Motors, said: “We are delighted to add the LEVC brand to the Gillanders family. As we continue to increase our electrified vehicle range, LEVC offers a viable alternative for taxi and van drivers looking to benefit from the massive savings offered by an electric vehicle.”

TX is the world’s first purpose-built electric taxi and offers all the credentials for city transportation – space, comfort and practicality, combined with environmental friendliness and a small turning circle, a trademark of the iconic London ‘black cab’.  Utilising LEVC’s eCity technology, TX offers 63 miles of zero emissions driving and a total electrically driven range of over 316 miles*.

VN5 is based on the same innovative architecture and proven eCity technology as LEVC’s TX electric taxi. With a pure EV range of over 60 miles and a total flexible range of 304 miles (489 km) VN5 is ideally suited to urban deliveries in zero emission mode, as well as longer journeys outside of town. The more frugal driver could achieve a 76 mile pure EV city range, according to WLTP city methodology. The pure EV (electric-only) range is 60.9 miles.  The pure EV range [City] of 75.8 miles is in accordance with EAER Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) figures (October 2020).

In addition, VN5 utilises the same strong, lightweight bonded aluminium monocoque & SMC construction – designed to last twice as long as the competition and has a class-leading turning circle of just 10.1m for unrivalled mobility in busy city environments.

About LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company)

LEVC’s history began in 1908 when the first dedicated black cab was specially designed and commissioned for use in London. With its unmistakable silhouette and classic design cues, this iconic British vehicle has defined the company for over a century.  In 2018, LEVC introduced its latest taxi model, the electric TX. TX is world’s cleanest, most advanced taxi ever, powered by LEVC’s revolutionary eCity technology.

LEVC manufactures its purpose-built, range extended electric TX taxi and TX shuttle models at a state-of-the-art factory in Ansty, Coventry. Since 2014, Geely has invested more than £500m into LEVC, allowing it to build an entirely new eco-friendly manufacturing facility, the UK’s first dedicated to the production of electric vehicles.

In November 2020, LEVC started production of its first non-taxi model with the launch of VN5, a medium-sized electric van. Utilising the same eCity technology as TX, VN5 offers both zero-emission capability and zero range anxiety, a critical combination for commercial vehicle operators.

A new central European sales office in Frankfurt was established in 2019 to increase LEVC’s presence across Europe and further new markets such as Middle East, New Zealand and Australia will continue to increase the company’s export footprint. This strategy will see LEVC move from 90% domestic sales to 60% export in 2022. www.levc.com
