A need for a business partner that could move quickly, with a flexible, forward-thinking and hassle-free approach has helped Woodland Logistics place two of its largest ever contracts with Hireco.

The contracts are for 25 curtainsiders and 6 flatbeds as well as multiple trailers on rental terms.

Woodland Logistics is part of Woodland Group, one of the largest, independently owned global logistics companies headquartered in the UK, and run more than 270 assets, ranging from small vans through to HGVs.

Sean Kirby, Managing Director of Woodland Logistics Limited, says the company had used Hireco previously for ad hoc trailer hire: “The challenges posed in the early part of 2020 made it clear that we needed a business to partner with that was flexible and could move and adapt with us quickly. We had no doubt that Hireco was the right partner.”

Under the new contracts, Hireco provides Woodland with a full management package, which includes both maintenance and tyre provision.

Woodland operates from an HQ in Chelmsford, Essex, and 11 other UK locations but also has numerous offices across the USA managed out of the US Head Office in Nassau County, New York, and an Asia Head Office in Hong Kong.

Major customers such as Cepac, Naylor Industries and Millbank Concrete Products reflect Woodland Logistics’ strong presence in transporting both packaging and building materials.

An unexpected, strong demand for logistics solutions during the height of the pandemic had come from packaging products, as well as delivery of toilet rolls in line with media reports of consumers stockpiling.

After the initial shutdown of the construction sector, the transport of building products has now also rebounded.

“2020 has been one of the toughest years in my time in logistics, especially with the new challenges of managing a work force now based at home as well as managing a fleet of vehicles and drivers,” Mr Kirby added.

Chris Heather, Sales Manager at Hireco, says: “We’re a privately-owned company that is able to make fast decisions and that, combined with the flexibility we can deliver, was a key part of being able to expand our business with Woodland.”

He added that the relationship with Woodland had grown from originally providing three trailers in 2016: “We don’t just provide the assets, we provide a full customer service experience and we are delighted to be given the opportunity to expand the relationship with these new contracts.”

After more than 40 years, Hireco is much more than trucks and trailers. The company’s success has been built on establishing partnerships with its customers, for example, its ability to provide a range of innovative finance packages.

Hireco is continually looking for ways to further improve its customer offering, especially in how it can work to find new solutions and benefits.

As leaders in the commercial leasing and finance marketplace, Hireco provides clients with expertly sourced assets, cost-effective financing, full maintenance management, efficient disposal and secure parking facilities, underpinned by outstanding customer service.

Hireco now operates more than 7000 assets around the UK and Ireland; 70 percent of which are supplied to the country’s top 100 transport companies, often on bespoke contracts of three to ten years.

One of the company’s trademarks is the age of its fleet, which is one of, if not the youngest in the business.

Hireco also has a Light Commercial Vehicle division which combines years of experience and knowledge in vehicle hire to provide a “one stop shop” solution bespoke to each customers requirement.

Hireco is the biggest buyer of new fleet vehicles in the UK, a position it has held for the last five years. At the heart of its fierce growth is a loyal customer base, ranging from smaller owner operator businesses to multinational 3PLs. www.hireco.co.uk
