To mark this year’s Brake Road Safety Week (15-21 November) vehicle technology specialist Trakm8, has launched a competition to find Britain’s ultimate Road Safety Hero.
Open to fleets of all sizes nationwide, the search will shine a spotlight on professional drivers who exemplify the values and ethos of Road Safety Week and have made a tangible difference to their own organisation’s approach to safety.
Business’s will have until Friday, 10th November to nominate their Road Safety Hero via the Trakm8 website http://trakm8.com/road-safety-hero.
The winner will be chosen from a shortlist of 10 entries, with the driver named Trakm8’s Road Safety Hero 2021 taking home tickets for a luxury overnight stay in the heart of London and a three course meal for two at Marco Pierre White’s London Steakhouse Co.
Nick Guise, Group Marketing Manager at Trakm8, said: “Trakm8 has been a long-time supporter of Brake and Road Safety Week, so we’re delighted to be launching our search for Britain’s Road Safety Hero as part of this year’s campaign. According to recent statistics, there are still more than 20,000 deaths or serious injuries on UK roads each year, so the work carried out by Brake to promote road safety is more vital than ever.
“Whether it’s embracing telematics technology or leading cultural change across their business, we know there are drivers doing fantastic work in the name of fleet safety and we can’t wait to celebrate them.”
Chris Willocks, Corporate Partnership Manager at Brake, added: “It’s fantastic to have the support of Trakm8 once again for Road Safety Week and see their creative take on this year’s theme of Road Safety Heroes, which is a chance to celebrate the heroic work of road safety professionals, and explain how we can all play a part in making journeys safer for everyone.”

About Brake, the road safety charity
Brake is a national road safety charity, founded in 1995, that exists to stop the needless deaths and serious injuries that happen on roads every day, make streets and communities safer for everyone, and care for families bereaved and injured in road crashes. Brake promotes safe and healthy road use, road safety education and effective road safety policies through campaigns and projects for communities, schools and in the workplace. Brake delivers the UK’s biggest road safety campaign every November, Road Safety Week. It is a national, government-funded provider of care and support to victims of road crashes and their families through a helpline service and resources.
Road crashes are not accidents; they are devastating and preventable events, not chance mishaps. Calling them accidents undermines work to make roads safer and can cause insult to families whose lives have been torn apart by needless casualties.
About Road Safety Week
Road Safety Week is the UK’s biggest road safety event. Every year, millions of people around the UK get involved to take action for safer roads.
Road Safety Week inspires thousands of schools, organisations and communities to take action on road safety and shout out for our right to make safe and healthy journeys every day. It also provides a great opportunity for anyone working in road safety to get more people involved with their work.
Road Safety Week 2021 is organised by Brake and sponsored by Arval, DHL and Openreach. It supports the Department for Transport’s Think! campaign.
