Steve Norris appointed Evtech Automotive Chairman

Coventry-based Evtec Automotive, an electric vehicle automotive supply specialist and member of the Auto Innovation Group, has appointed Steve Norris as Chairman.

Steve Norris, a former UK Minister for Transport, has been a board member of many public and privately held companies and has a 50-year association with the UK automotive industry.

Evtec Automotive is a key part of the Auto Innovation Group which has been formed to create long-term investments in the UK automotive industry. A large part of its portfolio focuses on advanced technologies for electrified vehicles and businesses with strong ESG – environmental, social and governance – credentials.

David Roberts, Chairman Auto Innovation Group says: “I am delighted that Steve is joining Evtec Automotive as Chairman. His experience will be invaluable to us as we grow the business, bolstering the strategically important UK supply base for electrified vehicles that is vital to the future competitiveness of our industry.

“It’s equally important that he shares our values and ethical ethos. Our mission is to source, make, deliver and sustainably dispose of zero emissions technologies. While at the same time using our resources to drive social change and helping to employ more disadvantaged people.”

Steve Norris, Chairman Evtec Automotive says: “I have had a long association with the automotive and transport industry, but this is the most exciting, pivotal moment for the sector in my career.

“We face huge challenges, adapting to an electrified, zero-emissions future. Which is why I am so pleased to be joining Evtec Automotive, a new business but one that is incredibly well placed to meet those challenges, supporting and supplying the UK car industry as it transitions to electric technologies.

“Cost and quality is paramount in this industry and Evtec can deliver on both, but it will deliver with social purpose at its core and that is something that I am equally proud to be associated with.”

Evtec Automotive, based in Coventry, counts Jaguar Land Rover and other major car manufacturers amongst its customer base as a Tier One supplier in the rapidly growing EV sector. Its sales are now back to pre-Covid crisis levels and it plans to expand to serve increasing demand for electrified vehicles.
