Mellor appoints Peter McFarlane to lead Scotland and Ireland sales push

Mellor, the Rochdale-based manufacturer of size- and cost-appropriate buses, has further bolstered its UK Sales management team, with the appointment of Peter McFarlane as Sales Manager for Scotland & Ireland, reporting to Stephen Haywood, Mellor National Sales Manager.

The appointment comes at a strategically important time for the company as it focuses growth in Scotland and across the Irish sea. With plans for further product development ahead, Mellor’s growing electric bus range – including the recently-launched Orion E23 and Maxima E23 – provides a compelling business case for Scottish Local Authorities looking to replace ageing diesel vehicles under Scottish Ultra-Low Emission Bus Scheme (SULEBS) funding.

Peter joins Mellor with 25-years sales experience including 12-months at Arriva, and also a background in healthcare which has provided him with a sound understanding of the accessible bus market. This is especially pertinent given that Peter will also represent Treka accessible bus products – Mellor’s sister company within the Woodall Nicholson group – in his sales portfolio, and supported by Helen Ross, Treka Sales Director.

“Having a background in healthcare,” said Peter, “I am well-acquainted with the need for accessible vehicles among Local Authorities and the wider customer base north of the border. I’m also very much looking forward to developing the Mellor and Treka brands throughout Scotland and Ireland.

“I intend to develop good relationships with Scottish LAs and to demonstrate where Mellor really can deliver a size- and cost-appropriate transport solution. I am very focused on ensuring our expanding electric bus range is firmly on the radar for operators as they consider SULEBS funding.”

“I am of the opinion that it makes good transport sense that every operator should have an accessible bus in its fleet,” he said, “bus operators should be inspired to embrace inclusivity and our product range offers ideal solutions for size-appropriate and DRT requirements.”
