Severn Trent gets charged up for a greener future

Severn Trent will begin installing 352 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across its sites over the next 18 months.

The water and waste company is taking a major step towards its goal of having an entire fleet of electric vehicles, by teaming up with Amsterdam-based EVBox which will supply 352 charging points.

Severn Trent’s EV ambition forms part of its triple carbon pledge, which will also see it achieve carbon neutrality and use 100% renewable energy by 2030, well ahead of the UK Government’s own 2050 target.

This move follows an announcement made last month revealing Severn Trent had joined the EV100 – a global initiative bringing together forward-thinking companies committed to accelerating the transition to EVs and making them the new normal by 2030.

Helen Miles, Capital Delivery and Commercial Director at Severn Trent, said: “This partnership with EVBox, who will supply over 300 electric vehicle charging points across our sites, is a major milestone in our bid to have a fleet of vehicles that are entirely electric by 2030.

“We’re delighted to have EVBox onboard with us on this exciting journey. They’re experts in their industry and we’ll no doubt benefit from all of their experience and passion for delivering cleaner and greener ways to travel.”

Jonathan Goose, Regional Director UK & Ireland of EVBox, added: “Our vision at EVBox is to accelerate towards a zero-emission future. I am happy to see that companies like Severn Trent are sharing our passion regarding carbon neutrality and sustainable transport.

“Workplace charging plays a crucial role when it comes to the transition to eMobility, and we’re proud to contribute with our EVBox BusinessLine charging station to Severn Trent’s ambitions of electrifying their fleets entirely within the next 10 years.”
