Patented emissions reduction system goes through testing process

Devon-based Ecomotus has revealed that it has been conducting trials on its patented emissions-reduction system.

It has run trials at Leicestershire-based research and testing centre Horiba Mira (pictured). The results showed that soot particles from a 2015 Euro 5 Ford Transit were reduced to 0.002 ppm.

Says Ecomotus Technical Design Director Jason Munro: “This means that we can get a standard Euro 5 van to be 25 times cleaner than London’s ULEZ standards require.”

He adds: “We are working on everything from generators to trawlers, we are in the throws of gaining type approval for the marine industry. This should be in place by the end of May.”

The Devon-based firm is part-funded by Innovate UK and the EU European Regional Development Fund
