With 30 years experience in transport journalism, Mel takes a keen interest in developing technologies – from data to alternative fuels and the practical application of technology – across road and rail. His main role is to oversee content for the ITTHub.net news channel, delivering thought-leadership, news, comment and analysis throughout the year. With a background in electricity distribution, he joined magazine publisher and show organiser EMAP (now Bauer Media) in the 1990s. He worked on various rail titles before moving to the coach and bus sector, latterly editing the market-leading weekly routeONE, launched in 2003 by Expo Management. He also has experience with shows and conferences in the transport technology and passenger transport sector. A qualified Transport Manager (CPC holder), he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, a Fellow of the Institute of Transport Administration, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of the Permanent Way Institution and a member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists.
